For the Rockettes this was one training session with a difference… Miss UK, Nicola McLean, joined the dancers in a bid to get fit for the Asset Management Women's 10K.

The Clyde 1 breakfast show presenter will be swapping her high heels for running shoes on Sunday May 13 where she will join thousands of other woman at the starting line. As a first-timer, Nicola is keen to get fit for this event and is hoping that training alongside the Rockettes will give her the inspiration she has been looking for.

So at her first session Radio Clyde were right beside her, tracking her progress for the breakfast radio show and fellow presenter funny man Des McLean managed to keep Nicola smiling throughout the demanding training session.

5th year veteran Kat McMahon said, "I wasn't convinced 'Miss UK - Nicola' would actually turn up to JJB Fitness to train with us. I'd been on air at Clyde1 on the Monday morning and invited them along – but something told me, "she's going to hit the pub instead". So I was more than surprised but excited when we met the Clyde 1 gang at the gym that night. Can I just say… I had looked out my thickest soled trainers and I was still only up to Nicola's waist! Mind you, I'm thinking a giraffe would have been up to her waist, she just so tall and didn't look as if she needed the workout.

"Nicola did absolutely fantastic. She really threw herself into the workout and seemed to enjoy the session with us. It certainly didn't help with George Bowie and Des pointing and laughing at us… yeah let's see you two guys try this! We'd definitely have her back and with Nicola's dance experience she seemed keen to come back and join us for a wee dance class. We'll look forward to seeing Nicola again, and next time… no calling a curry before you leave Nic!!"
