 Once again the weather failed to dampen the spirits of North Glasgow residents when they turned up in their thousands at Springburn Park for a Family Fun Day. Sunshine wasn't guaranteed but a fun-filled afternoon in the park certainly was.
There were many free fun activities and events for all the family to enjoy, including football and basketball coaching, a dog training display, a falconry display, cheerleading workshops and dance performances by the Rockettes, a climbing wall, a bouncy castle, face-painting, a giant slide, mountain biking and skateboarding, a live stage featuring many local acts and bands, and various community stalls offering information and advice on health and wellbeing.
North Glasgow Healthy Living Community organised the event in partnership with Glasgow City Council's Land Services and North Glasgow Housing Association. The event was a great success with around 6,000 people, young and old, enjoying a variety of activities for free.
Daniel Connelly, a Development Officer at North Glasgow Healthy Living Community, was delighted with the event:
"Once again the Rockettes attended and added to Fun in the Park in Springburn Park. The event was a huge success with an estimated 6,000 people attending throughout the day and the girls were on hand to provide dance workshops and pose for photos.
"I'd like to thank the girls; Charlie, Pauline and Deone who were all fantastic and joined in with the spirit of the day, and especially Deone who was performing her first promotional duty as a Rockette. Once again the Rockettes helped to make Fun in the Park such a success."
