The Middle East city of Dubai once again hosted the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier 2008 for the Asian zone. The five day event took place between Tuesday 6 and Saturday 10 May at Jumeirah Beach Park and attracted fans for all of the six competing teams: Iran, Japan, China, Uzbekistan, the Philippines and the UAE.
The curtain came down on Asia's qualifying competition on the Saturday, with three of the six participating teams securing a passage to July's global showpiece event in Marseilles, France.
With passion for beach soccer re-ignited across Asia by these qualifiers, it was certainly evident that progress had been made across the board. The narrowing of the gap between the contenders was evident from the start… however UAE, Japan and Iran qualifed for the finals
While Japan and Iran were merely cementing their powerful status in this discipline, tournament hosts United Arab Emirates again proved their skill to retain gold.
The Scottish Rockettes ensured the spectators spirits remained elevated between games with their high impact dance routines.
"Working with the Scottish Rockettes at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2008 Qualifier Dubai was an absolute pleasure. The cheerleaders were lovely, happy to make last-minute changes and always had a smile on their faces even in the heat & humidity!!" said Kerstie, Marketing Manager.
Carole Anne said: "We were thrilled to be invited back to the FIFA Beach Soccer event in Dubai… it really is a top class event." Carole Anne added: "We are now pros at dancing in the sand proving that the Rockettes can turn their hand to any type of sporting event. We look forward to our next challenge!"
