British Basketball League Finals Weekend slam-dunks into the NIA.
The biggest event in British basketball arrived at the Birmingham's National Indoor Arena as the British Basketball League (BBL) Play-off Finals Weekend took place over the Bank Holiday weekend of Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of May.
The BBL Finals Weekend is the culmination of the British Basketball League Championship season, and the pinnacle of many a player’s careers. After a 33-game season, the top eight teams in the country progress to the BBL Championship Play-off quarter-finals. Those that are successful make it to the NIA for Saturday 3 May's semi-finals, with the winning teams progressing to Sunday's season finale and the contest that will crown the 2007/08 BBL Play-off Champions.
This year the Milton Keynes Lions met the Newcastle Eagles head-to-head in the final in an all-or-nothing confrontation. The tension and excitement had seasoned fans and newcomers to the sport on the edges of their seats.
There was a host of entertainment over the weekend including the BBL Dunk Contest 2007/08 as the League's top high-flyers look to impress the judges with spectacular throw downs. As always the Scottish Rockettes were on hand to add some action-packed dance routines and even assisted in the acrobatic slam dunk show performed by the crazy dunkers which kept the crowds on their toes.
