2007 Calendar: Behind The Scenes… Kat's Diary

It was that time of year again… No, not Christmas!! Though while we're on the subject – hope everyone has my crimbo pressie in!!

Calendar time… Yee Haa!!

Everyone had been working out in the gym as usual to keep in shape, some on the treadmills, some on the cross trainers, me on the crème eggs!! Ha ha!

As there were twenty of us this year it was proving difficult to find twenty different colours for our bikini's. Seriously, you think there is millions of colours but when you're trying to find them for a bikini it's just not happening. So my colour was silver. Hhmmm...right...Now where on earth do I find a silver bikini!!

We all bombarded the Daily Record Studio very early that Sunday morning. Far too early for me!! So this was going to be our home for at least the next day.

In one room Mailin and Ainsley had made a start to our make up while Michael and the gang from 'Pele' were doing hair in the other room. There was a buzzing excitement as each girl was transformed with the make up brush and then their hair created by the hair dryer's and curling tongs. The studio was looking really good. A slick black back drop and our prop for this year....... a life sized 6ft letter 'R' - for 'Rockettes'. The funniest conversation I have ever had....

'Hello Polyscott'...

'hello it's kat from the rockettes here, I'm looking to see if you have a giant letter R, around 6ft tall, self standing, free of charge and we kinda need it 'asap'....???.....plleeeesseee....?

'yes we have one here, when do you want it?

THUD - passed out with shock.!!

Seriously , what are the chances!!!

As I chomped away on my sandwiches Claire's mum had made for me (thanks nelly-fant) the photo's were well under way in the studio. Everyone looked amazing. We'd all managed to source 20 different coloured bikini's , our St Tropez spray tan was glowing (thanks Lorna) hair and make up looked great and the new girls were really starting to relax. For Meg, Lynne, Annemarie, Cheryl, Amanda, Allana and Deone it was their first time doing the calendar shoot. If they were nervous they didn't show it at all. True beauty's under the camera's eye.

So it was my turn under the lens. Ekk.. Think most folk think cos I'm quite loud and out going that I don't get nervous. I do. That's my cover!! You'll be glad to know I found a silver bikini! yea... ! I had to make one actually. Clever girl eh.. my back up plan was a roll of tin foil but the bikini seemed to work out not too bad. Click click, click.. 'don't smile' the camera man kept saying... so instead I tried to look sexy and narrowed my eye's into a wee slit..!!!!! looked as if I was wanting to go ten rounds with tyson.!! 'thats you'.. !! It was all over.! ! ! Jeso that was fast.!!

Feeling very doubtful and worried I scurried off set... Surely even kate moss and the like need more time to get a decent photo.. but it was on to the next girl. With twenty girls to get through then group shots to be done there was no messing around. There was quite simply no time. Would just have to hope that our pic's were going to be OK - and none of us could wait to see them...

It was Tuesday night at training and Carole Anne had brought along some of the photo's for us to see.. What a laugh. It's so funny how much we mock ourselves. In one photo Claire was like an advert for Bernard Matthews turkey sausages with her five big fingers on each hand spread across her tummy.. .. I looked like a raging wee twig... was like 'you eye bawlin me pal' kinda look , in another Carole Anne was like the terminator's pal with the big googly eye's , all she was missing was a red laser burning out of each eye to kill her prey.

Linzi defo loved herself in her pics... she was like 'oh yea, I'm chocolate baby, who do you love'.. ha ha.. Pauline looked as if she'd been hit by an arctic truck and landed on a giant R.. and Hazel was like a wee pal of humpty dumpty's as she sat perched on the R.. haha.. tears were coming down all our faces. It was so funny.

Carole Anne and her work comrade David spent the next three weeks working late at night and weekends to create the calendar. The week after that, I saw the finished draft. It looked fantastic. I was so shocked. In every picture the colour of the R had been changed to match each girls bikini. It was so vibrant and colourful, completely different again from last years, was amazing. I really think everyone will be so pleased with the results and it's also great that everyone has their photo in the calendar. Well done David and Carole Anne for all your hard work. Also, well done to the new rookies, you guy's look amazing.

There's a skinny burd on the month of May, looks like jackie stallone, with a home made bikini and chewin a wasp... don't' know who she is.... flick on past... just flick on past.. ha ha...!
